Climatic features: subtropical, humid, monsoon climate; long, hot summers; warm, short winters; conspicuous dry and rainy seasons; one of China's most rainy areas

Average temperature: 6oC to 16oC in January, 25oC to 29oC in July

Annual average rainfall: 1,200 - 1,800 mm in most areas, with higher precipitation on the seaward side of mountains; 80 percent of the rain falls from April to September

Physical features: high in the northwest and low in the southeast; mountains on three sides; hills and plains in the middle and south; karst covers more than halt of the region; drained by western branches of the Pearl River; faces the Beibu Bay.
